The Capitol Hill Chorale is a 100-voice chorus performing music from across the spectrum, from early chant and Orthodox masterworks to jazz standards and works by new American composers.
Description
In the final concert of our 25th season, we harken back to our first season when we performed the American premiere of the All Night Vigil, Op. 59, by Alexander Gretchaninoff. That inaugural season established our interest in liturgical music from the Orthodox traditions of Russia, Georgia, Serbia, and other countries. It seems only fitting to pay homage to its role in shaping our history. In this concert, we perform another major Gretchaninoff work for a cappella chorus, Passion Week, Op. 58, inspired by the Orthodox celebration of Easter Week.
